should the new psp come without a nickname ?

hi guys
the thing is i bought a new psp i asked the shop guy to upgrade it to 4.01 m33-2 for me
but when i got home i found that there’s already a nick name on it (actually it was not a name but it was a group of numbers and letters) so does this mean that this psp is used or what?
please help , thanks

note :i think that the shop guy used the pandora battery and the pandora memory
